A friend the other day said he didn’t feel like celebrating America on the Fourth of July this year because of how awful things are in Washington.
But the way I see it, there’s no better time to salute what this country is supposed to be — and stand against the perversion of our ideals.

It’s not a substitute for voting, being politically engaged, speaking out, calling your representatives, marching or any other way you can put positive muscle behind your voice.
