Back to the beginning of the Marvel Age…

Marvel’s Fantastic Four returns this week after a lengthy hiatus. Dan Slott, Sara Pichelli and co. are staffing the flying bathtub this time around, but of course something this monumental deserves a look back at great runs of the past.
Hence, a fantastic foursome of 13 COVERS salutes — spotlighting Jack Kirby, John Buscema, John Byrne and Walter Simonson — rolling out between now and Wednesday.
Naturally, we start with the King, who launched comics’ First Family — and the Marvel Age — with Stan Lee.
Groovy.

Nice job of honoring the late Jack Kirby.

I love the silver age Sub-Mariner’s guest star appearances in the pages of Fantastic Four, The Avengers, etc. Back in those days, Subby was pissed at everyone in the Marvel Universe and before he got his own comic magazine, you could count on the Sub-Mariner to show up and start plenty fights and drama in every top-selling silver age marvel comic.
