A rad round-up of ’80s fabulosity…
TwoMorrows’ Back Issue #137 is due 8/3 and the theme is a great one — DC miniseries of the ’80s.
Normally, we’d do an EXCLUSIVE EXCERPT but the articles in this ish are so packed that it proved especially difficult to pull out a piece that would do a particular subject justice.
Just dig the table of contents:
Anyway, instead we’re going with 13 COVERS that highlight most of the minis that get the spotlight in the issue — from our buddy and columnist Paul Kupperberg’s Secrets of the Legion of Super-Heroes to the classic America vs. the Justice Society, written by Roy Thomas.
So dig these — they certainly give you a strong taste of what’s in BI #137. The issue will be available at comics shops and magazine sellers but you can also order it directly from TwoMorrows. Click here.
Right on.

I’m absolutely mindblown by these ’80s miniseries covers from DC.

That second America vs Justice Society cover — with one of the more egregious lettering gaffes in comics history (that missing “or” before “DIE”)!

I believe all of these have been reprinted in nice collections except the Green Arrow miniseries. We need a Green Arrow / Black Canary Bronze Age omnibus!

I bought every one of those and read them voraciously as a kid… except for WW… nothing against her, I just found WW boring as heck, and didn’t really appreciate Robbins’ throwback style at the time. Green Arrow was my favorite of the bunch, for the Trevor Von Eden artwork. Colon on Legion was nice, too.

Secrets of the Legion of Super-Heroes #1 was the start of my comics fandom!
