Wonder Woman’s creator was born was born May 9, 1893.
Of all the visionary creators of the Golden Age, Marston was the one who saw relatively little of what he’d started. Marston died in 1947 and while the Amazon princess was popular in his final years, she wasn’t yet the international standard bearer of female empowerment and inspiration.
Last year, I featured 13 Golden Age covers for Marston’s birthday, mostly featuring issues with his stories. (Click here to see that selection.) This year, I decided to go one step forward, to show the Wonder Woman of the generation that followed — the Silver Age.
Princess Diana will celebrate her 75th anniversary later this year, so we have more to come. Until then, here are 13 COVERS featuring Wonder Woman, all as rendered in the Silver Age by Ross Andru and Mike Esposito. As usual, feel free to add your favorites in the comments below or in whichever social-media thread you found this!
