13 COVERS: A STEVE DITKO Birthday Celebration

The idiosyncratic artist was born 96 years ago, on Nov. 2, 1927…

The late Steve Ditko — one of the all-time greats — was known for many things: Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, the Creeper, the Question, and on and on and on.

But a lot of folks forget the groovy horror work he did for Charlton in the Silver and Bronze Ages.

So dig these 13 COVERS from Ghostly Tales — each one wild in its own Ditko way.

Far out.

  2. I remember when a lot of “head” friends claimed that the op art of the Sixties was inspired by Steve Ditko’s work, and the debate rolled “No it wasn’t” “Yes it is.”
Having followed Ditko’s CDC weird comics (only a nickel for 1950s comics) long before Spider-Man, I easily believed it was likely. Ditko could have made Casper far out weird.
