A stalwart of DC’s war comics turns 90.

Russ Heath, born Sept. 29, 1926, was part of a battery of artists that dominated DC’s war books in the ’50s and ’60s — a group that included Joe Kubert, Jerry Grandenetti and Irv Novick.
Heath worked on titles like Our Army at War and Star Spangled War Stories but for my taste, his most interesting covers were for G.I. Combat, many of which featured the Haunted Tank, co-created with Robert Kanigher.
Russ Heath is one of our last links to the onset of the Silver Age and wish him a Happy 90th Birthday with this set of 13 COVERS — all from G.I. Combat.
