Nichelle Nichols rocks. She’s awesome.
As is our custom here at 13th Dimension, we post 13 COVERS for birthdays and other events and milestones. With Nichelle Nichols — the great Lt. Uhura — it was a bit of a tough task. Since she was a supporting character, there aren’t many comics covers that feature her prominently, at least not that I could readily find. Often, as on the show, she’s relegated to a small spot in a crowd, or maybe in the background.
But I expanded the search to include books and magazines and came up with 13 COVERS that I hope do her justice. There are still a few where she’s not the focal point of the cover, but I like them anyway. (Feel free to add any others in the comments below or in whatever social-media thread you found this.) I’m also proud to say that Ms. Nichols will be a guest at the East Coast Comicon in April (click here for tickets and other info).
