WEIN and WRIGHTSON’s SWAMP THING to Get Absolute Edition

Oh, boy, is this groovy news…

So many writers and artists have put their best work into Swamp Thing. But it all started with the brilliant Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson run from the ’70s — and that pairing will finally get a much-deserved Absolute Edition.

Dig the official description, which will be released officially by DC on Friday:

ABSOLUTE SWAMP THING BY LEN WEIN AND BERNIE WRIGHTSON

Written by LEN WEIN
Art by BERNIE WRIGHTSON and NESTOR REDONDO
Cover by BERNIE WRIGHTSON

At long last, DC Comics is proud to present the original early appearances of Swamp Thing in prestigious Absolute format. Created by comics legends Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson, the muck monster from the bayou would go on to become one of DC’s premier horror characters. This oversize edition includes Swamp Thing’s first appearance in The House of Secrets #92 plus Swamp Thing #1-13.

$100.00 US | 336 pages | 8 1/8″ x 12 1/4″ | Hardcover
ISBN: 978-1-77951-730-2
ON SALE 11/8/22

A couple thoughts:

— This is a terrific, all-in-one package. A lot of folks forget that Wrightson worked on only the first 10 issues of the series. The underappreciated Nestor Redondo took over the art with Issue #11 and Wein left after #13. (The series kept going through #24.)

— This would pair nicely with DC’s House of Secrets #92 Facsimile Edition from a few years back, would it not?

  1. Great…maybe we will get more Bronze Age “Absolute Editions” – there have been very few. #1 on my list is the Englehart Detective run.
