The SAVAGE SHE-HULK OMNIBUS Is Stomping Your Way

The original series is getting the doorstop treatment…

Another day, another omnibus coming from Marvel: The Savage She-Hulk Omnibus will be hitting stores in 2022.

Dig this description from an Amazon listing:

THE SAVAGE SHE-HULK OMNIBUS

By David Anthony Kraft (Author), Stan Lee (Author), Mike Vosburg (Artist), John Buscema (Artist), Alan Kupperberg (Artist)

The complete original adventures of She-Hulk in one mighty Omnibus! When criminal defense attorney Jennifer Walters is shot by a mob hitman, her cousin saves her life with a blood transfusion—but that cousin is Bruce Banner and his gamma-irradiated blood turns her into the Savage She-Hulk! Suddenly, she’s a mean, green lawyering machine, and criminals the world over had better watch out. Conflict rages not just between She-Hulk and the many super-powered enemies in store, but between Jennifer Walters and She-Hulk! Our heroine’s two halves are in a battle for control as She-Hulk fights transforming back into Jen Walters, while Jen risks losing herself in the She-Hulk’s power. And each has their own separate romantic interest — it ain’t easy being green.

COLLECTING: Savage She-Hulk (1980) 1-25, Marvel Two-in-One (1974) 88

A few thoughts:

— The 648-page hardcover lists for $100. It’s due April 19, 2022.

— Why April 2022? Well, the She-Hulk TV show starring the awesome Tatiana Maslany and the great Mark Ruffalo debuts next year on Disney+.

— By the way, if you’re a fan of John Byrne’s She-Hulk, there’s already an omnibus out there for you.

Standard caveat: This has not been solicited by Marvel yet, so nothing is official until it’s official. Even then, things can change. Just keep coming to 13th Dimension for updates.

  2. The David Anthony Kraft stories are better than most people think. The first issue, by Stan Lee, is utterly pedestrian, and the next six issues don’t really find their footing, but starting in issue 8 where she just kicks loose and heads for the beach, she develops *personality*. The character development continues while she fights a series of increasingly forgettable villains.

Everyone associates She-Hulk with Byrne, who was brilliant, but I think there’s a reason he took to the character: Kraft went in a totally unexpected direction starting in issue 8 and created something Byrne wanted to follow up on.

In other words, yes, I’m buying the omnibus. (My copies of the original issues are a bit fragile for regular reading.)
