Few things Bat-related get me more excited.

Remember how cool it was whenever the Batcopter would fly across the screen in the 1966 movie or when it would pop up unexpectedly on the show itself?

So, so cool.

What’s great is that the very chopper still exists and is going to be at East Coast Comicon in Secaucus, N.J. on April 16 and 17. (Full disclosure: ECC is run by my friend Cliff Galbraith, who was my original partner in 13th Dimension before we amicably went our separate ways bizwise.)

The Batcopter — serial no. N3079G — is owned by the Nock family, a troupe of affable entertainers straight out of the circus tradition.

I’ve been exceptionally fortunate to ride in the Batcopter itself (click here for that bit of awesome) because it’s still air-worthy. That flight was, to put it mildly, a highlight of my charmed Batlife.

The Batcopter won’t be flying at ECC because it’s an indoor show but for only $20 you can sit where Adam West and Burt Ward (and, later, Julie Newmar and Yvonne Craig and Lee Meriwether) sat and have your picture taken.

And make sure to chat up Capt. Eugene Nock and his family. They LOVE presenting the Batcopter to fans.
