SECRET WARS: Marvel to Bring OMNIBUS Back Into Print

I want the toys, too!

Ready for something fun? Marvel this autumn is releasing a new omnibus collection of the 1980s landmark series Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars.

Dig the official description, from an Amazon listing:

SECRET WARS OMNIBUS HARDCOVER

By Jim Shooter, Mike Zeck and Bob Layton

Drawn from Earth across the stars, the Marvel Universe’s greatest heroes and villains are set against one another by the mysterious and all-powerful Beyonder — with the winner promised the ultimate prize! But as battle lines are drawn, new alliances forged and old enemies clash, one among them is not willing to settle for anything less than godhood. Can even the combined might of the Avengers, Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four and the X-Men prevent Doctor Doom from becoming the most powerful being in the universe? Now, the greatest super hero war of all time is collected alongside an untold chapter of Thor’s time on Battleworld, Titania’s incredible origin, and “What If?” tales that offer very different endings to the Secret Wars!

COLLECTING: Secret Wars (1984) 1-12; Thor (1966) 383; She-Hulk (2004) 10; What If? (1989) 4, 114

A few thoughts:

— The 496-page hardcover is due Nov. 22, 2022. It lists for $75.

Secret Wars was evidently last released as an omnibus in 2008. This edition includes two more stories (the What If? installments) than were in the earlier volume.

Standard caveat: This has not been solicited by Marvel yet, as far as I can tell, so nothing is official until it’s official. Even then, things can change. Just keep coming to 13th Dimension for updates.

  1. I have the complete series in its original form. Don’t need the omnibus.
