SCOOBY-DOO TEAM-UP #50 is a Love Letter to BATMAN and SCOOBY History

EXCLUSIVE PREVIEW: A fitting finale that celebrates decades of comics and cartoons…

When I was a kid, it was a special occasion whenever Batman and Robin (and the Joker and Penguin) showed up on Scooby-Doo. (I know the different Scooby shows had various titles, but we younglings always just called it Scooby-Doo.)

Well, the folks at DC and the creators behind the comic book Scooby-Doo Team-Up — chiefly Sholly Fisch and Dario Brizuela — get it. Batman and Robin were the guest stars of the series’ first three issues and Batman Family members have popped up throughout the title’s nearly six-year run. (That’s right. Nearly six years!)

But as has been said, all things must pass — and Scooby-Doo Team-Up’s 50th and final issue — is out Sept. 25. The guest star? Batman and Robin. Of course.

But not just Batman. A LOT of Batmans. Or Batmen, if you prefer.

Thanks to Bat-Mite and Scooby-Mite, the Dynamic Duo and Mystery Inc. have to wrestle with a case so big, it involves the Multiverse — with Elseworlds Bat-doppelgangers aplenty, courtesy of line artist Scott Jeralds.

Just dig this EXCLUSIVE PREVIEW:

Now, let’s see. I espy Bob Kane/Jerry Robinson/Dick Sprang’s Batman, Mike Mignola’s Gotham by Gaslight Batman, Enrique Alcatena’s Leatherwing Batman, Eduardo Barreto’s Scar of the Bat Batman and a Red Rain Batman that echoes Kelley Jones, even if the art style is a bit more generic.

The main Batman and Robin themselves track with Alex Toth’s Super Friends designs and there are a bunch of alternate Scoobys too. (Plus the return of Mr. Camera!)

And this is just the first five pages.

Sigh. I’m gonna miss this title. It covered more Golden, Silver and Bronze Age ground than I ever would have imagined — and lasted far longer than I ever would have expected. (Need proof? Click here for our 13 COVERS salute.)

Either way, it certainly looks like the series is going out on a high note.
