REVIEW: DC’s CREEPER is the Best Action Figure So Far This Year

Because of one little item …

It’s only April and this has already been a banner year for comics merch. But today, I was at Midtown Comics and I almost keeled over when I saw DC Collectibles‘ animated Creeper action figure.

Mind you, I hadn’t intended on getting the figure — or at least I was on the fence about it. I mean, I dig the Creeper but I was never that crazy about the Bruce Timm version.

But Mike at Midtown‘s Grand Central location pointed something out.

This:

OH MY GOD IT’S A MINIATURE BEN COOPER BATMAN MASK AND HOLY CRAP THE WORLD JUST TIPPED ON ITS AXIS!

Seriously, in a thousand years, would you ever expect this? Something this clever? This AWESOME?

Eye holes! Mouth hole!

Eye holes! Mouth hole!

DC has made the point that all their Animated Series/The New Batman Adventure figures are based on specific episodes, with specific accessories.

Well, in “Beware the Creeper” from TNBA, we get this bit …

… and DC went all in and gave it to us.

As soon as I saw it, I bought it. That’s right. 25 bucks because of a piece of plastic not an inch long. That’s a textbook impulse buy right there, kids.

And worth every extravagant penny.

Because when you’re a child of the ’70s and Ben Cooper was the costumer of (lack of) choice, this was the go-to Batman mask — yellow oval and all.

So I guess I know what I’m watching tonight:

  1. The yellow oval is to keep you from being confused with the REAL Caped Crusader…
