INSIDE LOOK: DAN DUNN and the First ‘New’ Comic Book

EXCLUSIVE PREVIEW: The Library of American Comics goes back to the beginning.

Norman Marsh’s Dick Tracy knockoff Dan Dunn starred in what many consider to be the first comic book with original material about a single subject, Detective Dan, Secret Operative 48. The publication contained stacks of strips in a tabloid format and lasted only one issue in 1933 before becoming the daily newspaper strip Dan Dunn. Now, the Library of American Comics and IDW are reprinting those original strips in the latest LOAC Essentials hardcover, Vol. 10.
