HOT PICKS! On Sale This Week!

Scott and Dan pick the comics they’re most looking forward to…

Dan Greenfield, editor, 13th Dimension

Batman & Scooby-Doo Mysteries #3, DC. Ace the Bat-Hound sighting!

The Incredible Hulk Epic Collection: Man or Monster?, Marvel. A new printing of the Hulk’s first Epic Collection volume – collecting the big green (and gray) guy’s earliest appearances, by Stan, Jack and others.

Red Sonja #1 Dynamite Edition, Dynamite. A reprint of 1977’s Red Sonja #1 by Roy Thomas, Frank Thorne and co. Marvel pubbed the original, natch, but Dynamite now owns the rights, so…

DC Pride #1, DC. A one-shot collection featuring DC’s LGBTQIA+ characters and creators, timed to Pride Month. Very cool.

Sweet Tooth Compendium, DC. Collects the original 40 issues of Jeff Lemire’s superb dystopian epic. One of the best comics I’ve read in the last 15 years.

Everything’s Archie #1, Archie. A classic-style one-shot by Fred Van Lente (a 13th Dimension columnist, doncha know) and Dan Parent about Archie trying to survive the gig economy to get that guitar he wants so much.

Scott Tipton, contributor-at-large, 13th Dimension

Star Trek: The Next Generation Mirror Universe Collection, IDW. All three of my Mirror Universe graphic novels in a single collection, just in time for the release of the biggest one yet, The Mirror War, coming this August!

Thor Epic Collection: The Final Gauntlet, Marvel. I wasn’t a huge fan of this period of Thor comics, but when you team up all the alternate and counterpart versions of Thor and call them “The Thor Corps”? You get my money.

The Marvel Art of George Perez, Marvel. Is he the greatest super-team artist of all time? Hard to think of someone who’s better at it. Looking forward to this.

    • That Thor run is great.

As I’ve gotten older it’s become one of my favorites…had some kind of overlooked gems with that, the Avengers by Harris, Epting and Palmer and Dematties and Sal Buscema’s Spectacular Spider-Man.

  1. That Star Trek cover really betrays what the actual story art looks like. I’s all fully painted with great likenesses.
