HOT PICKS! On Sale This Week!

Scott and Dan pick the comics they’re most looking forward to…

Dan Greenfield, editor, 13th Dimension

Batman: Arkham – Talia al Ghul, DC. Timed to her 50th anniversary, this is the first-ever collection of Talia stories, going all the way back to her 1971 debut in Detective Comics #411. (I quibble that DC put her in the “Arkham” line of villain collections, though: Talia has never been a candidate for the asylum. But hey, it’s marketing.)

Batman/Superman #16, DC. The serial versions of Batman and Superman team up against the comics equivalents of their screen adversaries. By Gene Luen Yang and Ivan Reis. Really looking forward to this one.

The Comic Book History of Animation #4, IDW. Fred Van Lente (our buddy, pal and columnist) and the groovy Ryan Dunlavey hit the world of Saturday morning cartoons in the penultimate issue. (Fred even ranked the 13 GREATEST SPACE GHOST VILLAINS for you! Click here.)

Psi-Lords, Valiant. Speaking of Fred. A trade paperback of his Valiant series Psi-Lords with Renato Guedes is also out right now. Check it out!

Scott Tipton, contributor-at-large, 13th Dimension

Marvel Masterworks: The Invincible Iron Man Vol. 13, Marvel. This was really Iron Man’s sweet spot, the run by writer David Michelinie and artists John Romita Jr. and Bob Layton. Most of the stuff we think of as “classic” Iron Man comes from these pages.

Fantastic Four Epic Collection: The Master Plan of Doctor Doom, Marvel. Some of the great early adventures of the FF by Stan the Man and King Kirby, back in print at last!

Marvel Masterworks: Dazzler Vol. 2, Marvel. Admittedly, calling the early Dazzler comics “masterworks” is a bit of a stretch, but nostalgia has been kind, and I find myself enjoying them more now than I did as a kid.
