Scott and I share a lot of the same tastes, but this week I concur with his entire list below. It’s uncanny, actually, so I just added some comments to his. But I do have a few more to recommend:

Detective Comics #38 Facsimile Edition, DC. The first-ever complete reprint of the 1940 issue that gave the world Robin the Boy Wonder. Perfect way to celebrate ROBIN WEEK – and if you don’t know what that is, click here. (And click here for an INSIDE LOOK at the Facsimile Edition.)

Dollar Comics: Robin #1, DC. Did I mention that it’s ROBIN WEEK? I did? Well, in case you missed it, click here to find out what it’s all about. Anyway, this reprints the story from the first-ever Robin miniseries, starring Tim Drake. (That cover also made our ranking of the TOP 13 ROBIN COVERS EVER. Click here.)

Thor #229 Facsimile Edition, Marvel. This might be the most clever Facsimile Edition of them all. Why? Because the reason Marvel is printing this is that it includes an ad that first showed the world Wolverine. See, we’ve already had reprints of his first cameo in The Incredible Hulk #180; his first full appearance in The Incredible Hulk #181; the first issues of his original miniseries and ongoing series from the ’80s; and later this month, we’ll get The Incredible Hulk #182, which deals with the aftermath of #181. This, folks, is commitment. House of Ideas, indeed. (Click here for more info.)

DC’s Wanted: The World’s Most Dangerous Supervillains, DC Comics. A hardcover collection of a ’70s reprint series? Sure, why not? These are the kinds of bizarre books I love. (Dan adds: I LOVED Wanted as a kid. What a neat idea for a collection.)

Black Widow Marvel Team-Up, Marvel. Clearly, Marvel is digging through the archives for as much Black Widow material as they can before her movie comes out. Luckily, Natasha appeared frequently in the team-up books of the 1970s, Marvel Team-Up and Marvel Two-in-One. This will be a fun collection.

Batman: Tales of the Demon, DC Comics. One of the best Batman stories of all time, in nice plush hardcover. By the great Denny O’Neil and legend Neal Adams. (Dan adds: My wedding anniversary is this week. I asked my wife for this as a gift. That should tell you how much I love the idea of finally getting this in hardcover. Plus, that logo! Click here for more on the collection.)

Mister Miracle by Steve Englehart & Steve Gerber, DC Comics. This ’70s run with art by Marshall Rogers was my introduction to Jack Kirby’s New Gods. Glad to see it back in print. (Dan adds: I’m such an Englehart-Rogers Batman fan, I need to get this. Plus, dig the other creators in this volume: Bob Haney, Michael Golden, Jim Aparo, Rich Buckler, Joe Giella, Russ Heath, Dick Giordano and MORE.)

History of Marvel Universe Treasury Edition, Marvel. This was a great series, and it’ll look even better in the giant Treasury format. (Dan adds: What he said.)

Sub-Mariner: Marvels Snapshots #1, Marvel. Any time writer Alan Brennert returns to comics, they get my money, no questions asked. (Dan adds: You really have to see this.
