HOT PICKS! On Sale This Week!

Scott and Dan pick the comics they’re most looking forward to this week …

Dan Greenfield, editor, 13th Dimension

Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #1, Marvel. Hey, don’t look now but Marvel has three regular Peter Parker Spidey titles again. Tom Taylor, Juann Cabal and Marcelo Ferreira give us a street-level look at our favorite wall-crawler.

Miles Morales: Spider-Man #2, Marvel. Of course, Miles is the big star these days, isn’t he? Man, Into the Spider-Verse was a blast. Anyway, Saladin Ahmed and Javier Garron have you covered here. First issue was rock solid.

The Green Lantern #3, DC. No knock on what’s come before but Grant Morrison and Liam Sharp’s take on the Emerald Gladiator is a breath of fresh air: fun and funky and unencumbered by the space operas of the last decade or so. Good, old-fashioned comic-booking here, folks.

Justice League #15, DC. Speaking of good, old-fashioned comic-booking, Justice League has been whiz-bang issue in and issue out. In the latest installment – by James Tynion IV, Scott Snyder, Jim Cheung, Stephen Segovia and co. – Martian Manhunter, GL John Stewart and Hawkgirl have to deal with Shayera Hol and the secrets on Thanagar Prime.

Avengers #12, Marvel. Jason Aaron’s Avengers run has been a kick – especially when the spotlight turns to the Avengers of 1,000,000 BC. We get another installment here, with art by Ed McGuinness, Cory Smith and crew.

Kirby & Lee: Stuf’ Said!, TwoMorrows. John Morrow’s remarkable oral history delves deep into who deserves credit for what in the Marvel Age. (Click here for an EXCLUSIVE EXCERPT.)

Archie Meets Batman ’66 #6, Archie/DC. The final issue of what is in all likelihood the last Batman ’66 comic we’ll see for the foreseeable future. Just in time for the show’s anniversary on Jan. 12, too. By Jeff Parker, Michael Moreci, Dan Parent, J. Bone and Kelly Fitzpatrick. (Click here for a SNEAK PEEK.)

The Wrong Earth #5, AHOY Comics. The best Batman ’66 comic not starring Batman ’66. By Tom Peyer, Jamal Igle and co.

Scott Tipton, co-owner, Blastoff Comics, North Hollywood, Calif.

Young Justice #1, DC. Very curious to see what Bendis brings to this title, but so pleased to have Connor Kent back. The art team’s led by Patrick Gleason.

Captain Marvel #1, Marvel. The beginning of the barrage of Carol Danvers material in anticipation of her big-screen debut starts here with Carol’s return to Earth! Written by Kelly Thompson, with line art by Carmen Carnero and colors by Tamra Bonvillain.

Marvel Masterworks Marvel Team-Up Vol. 4, Marvel. More Spidey adventures from MTU’s ’70s heyday, with work by Gerry Conway, Bill Mantlo, Sal Buscema and Gil Kane!

Ms. Marvel Epic Collection: This Woman, This Warrior, Marvel. More of Carol Danvers, this time the first year of her solo title as Ms. Marvel! By Claremont, Conway, Mooney and the Buscemas.
