HOT PICKS! On Sale This Week!

Scott and Dan pick the comics they’re most looking forward to this week …

Dan Greenfield, editor, 13th Dimension

Justice League #12, DC. Who ya got? It’s an incapacitated Batman vs. the Legion of Doom’s biggest baddies in Part 3 of Drowned Earth. By James Tynion IV, Frazer Irving, et al.

Dick Tracy: Dead or Alive #2, IDW. The Man in the Yellow Trench Coat’s adventures continue, courtesy of the Allred family and Rich Tomasso.

Silver Surfer by Dan Slott and Mike Allred Omnibus, Marvel. Speaking of the Allreds, this edition collects one of Marvel’s best series of the last decade. Brilliant, humanistic work. (Click here for Mike Allred’s perspective on the series.)

Star Wars #57, Marvel. Wanna see some uncanny likenesses of Luke, Leia and Han? Check out Angel Unzueta’s art, as our rebel trio hide out on Hubin. Written by Kieron Gillen. (Click here for a SNEAK PEEK.)

Scott Tipton, co-owner, Blastoff Comics, North Hollywood, Calif.

Legends of the Dark Knight: Norm Breyfogle Vol. 2, DC Comics. This second hardcover collection of the Batman work by the recently departed Mr. Breyfogle is a must-have.

Go-Bots #1, IDW Publishing. I’ll be honest: I have no affection for the Go-Bots. Never owned a single toy, never watched the cartoon, don’t even know if there was a cartoon. But Tom Scioli’s work on GI Joe vs. Transformers a couple of years back was so full-bore, crazy-as-a-junkyard-rat insane that I have to see what he’s going to do with this.

Rick Veitch’s Brat Pack, IDW Publishing. I found this book profoundly disturbing when it came out almost 30 years ago. I’m a little afraid to re-read it. But I’ll risk it to enjoy this marvelous new collected edition from IDW. (Click here for an INSIDE LOOK.)
