HOT PICKS! On Sale This Week!

Scott and Dan pick the comics they’re most looking forward to this week …

Dan Greenfield, editor, 13th Dimension

Archie Meets Batman ’66 #1, Archie/DC. Batman ’66 returns to comics in this crossover with Archie. Looks to be one of the most fun comics of the summer. Wanna get an INSIDE LOOK? Check out our interview with writers Jeff Parker and Michael Moreci (click here) and our talk with artists Dan Parent and J. Bone (click here). Want a SNEAK PEEK of the issue itself? Click here.

Batman #51, DC. After Selina’s cold shoulder, Batman has to cope with Mr. Freeze. Have I told you how much I love Mr. Freeze in the summertime? I have? Oh. Well, cool then. Tom King, Lee Weeks and Elizabeth Breitweiser bring the icy ruckus.

Justice League #4, DC. Scott Snyder sure seems like he’s enjoying himself with this whiz-bang version of JL. Jorge Jimenez handles the line art.

Avengers #5, Marvel. Marvel’s pre-eminent superteam has been similarly bombastic. As it should be. By Jason Aaron and a team of artists.

True Believers, Marvel. Three more dollar reprints starring the Fantastic Four!

Scott Tipton, co-owner, Blastoff Comics, North Hollywood, Calif.

Go Team Venture! The Art and Making of the Venture Bros. HC, Dark Horse. Feels like I’ve been waiting for this book forever. And with a new season beginning next month, the timing is perfect. By Ken Plume and series creators Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer.

Star Trek: The Next Generation — Terra Incognita #1, IDW Publishing. My new series begins here, with this issue’s art by the great Tony Shasteen! Is there an imposter double aboard the Enterprise-D? Plus, check out this beautiful variant cover by Elizabeth Beals.

Batman and Robin Adventures Vol. 3 TPB, DC Comics. More of the great Batman Animated-style comics of the ’90s, featuring work by folks like Ty Templeton and Kelley Puckett.

Walt Disney’s Don Rosa Duck Library Vol. 9: Uncle Scrooge and Donald Duck — The Three Caballeros Ride Again!, Fantagraphics. Don Rosa writing and drawing the Three Caballeros makes this an instant buy for me.
