HOT PICKS! On Sale This Week!

Scott and Dan pick the comics they’re most looking forward to this week …

Dan Greenfield, editor, 13th Dimension

DC Nation #0, DC. DC gets a leg up on Free Comic Book Day with a 25-cent issue featuring new stories that set up three huge events: The Joker insinuates himself into the Batman-Catwoman wedding, by Tom King, Clay Mann and Jordie Bellaire; Scott Snyder, James Tynion IV and Joshua Williamson provide a prelude to Justice League: No Justice, with line art by Jorge Jimenez; and Brian Michael Bendis gives us another Superman tease, with art by Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez. Such a deal!

The Avengers #1, Marvel. Marvel’s Fresh Start launches at the perfect moment — between Infinity War and Free Comic Book Day. Jason Aaron, Ed McGuinness, Mark Morales and David Curiel have put the heart of the team back together.

Action Comics Special #1, DC. With Bendis taking over the Superbooks, Dan Jurgens wraps his run with this one-shot. Will Conrad provides line art. Plus, back-up stories by Max Landis and Francis Manapul and Mark Russell and Jill Thompson. (By the way, check out Dan Jurgens’ ranking of the 13 Greatest ACTION COMICS Covers. Click here.)

Batman #46, DC. Tom King continues to flip the script on the Moore-Gibbons Superman classic For the Man Who Has Everything, with Bruce Wayne quite happy to live in a reality where his parents lived, thank you very much. Art by Tony Daniel and Tomeu Morey.

Scott Tipton, co-owner, Blastoff Comics, North Hollywood, Calif.

Milk and Cheese: Dairy Products Gone Bad TPB, Dark Horse. Evan Dorkin’s misanthropic dairy products always make me laugh.

Zero Hour: Crisis in Time HC, DC Comics. Here’s one I’m very curious to go back and re-evaluate. One of the biggest of the DC event series of the ’90s, by Jurgens and Ordway.

Star Trek: The Next Generation — Through the Mirror #1, IDW Publishing. My big weekly Star Trek event begins here! The invasion of the Mirror Universe starts with this first issue by David Tipton, J.K. Woodward, Marcus To and yours truly.

Agents of Atlas: The Complete Collection Vol. 1 TPB, Marvel. This was a great series, sadly overlooked. By Jeff Parker, Don Glut and a cast of thousands.
