Batman #44, DC. The wedding date approaches ever more quickly and this is the one where Bruce and Selina pick out their outfits. That may sound bizarrely mundane for a superhero comic, but I’m actually really looking forward to it. By Tom King, with art by Mikel Janin and June Chung, and Joelle Jones and Jordie Bellaire. Amazing Spider-Man #798, Marvel. Go Down Swinging: Part 2, as Spidey heads toward his showdown with Norman Osborn. Dan Slott’s firing on all cylinders, folks. Line art by Stuart Immonen and Wade von Grawbadger, with a fantastic cover by Alex Ross.

Deathstroke #30, DC. Start of a 6-issue story pitting Batman against Deathstoke the Terminator. Here’s the gist: Bruce finds out that Damian’s not his biological son — and that he’s actually Slade Wilson’s. Between this and Batman #44, I expect to hear the organ theme song for As Gotham Turns. By the way, this hook has feint written all over it, but hey, I’ll check it out. By Priest, with line art by Carlo Pagulayan.

Marvel 2-In-One #5, Marvel. The Multiverse is on the brink! If you haven’t been checking out the series that’s setting up the Fantastic Four’s return, you probably should. Not just because this is where to get your FF fix right now, but because it’s a good comic. Written by Chip Zdarsky with line art by Valerio Schiti.

Flash by Mark Waid Book 4 TPB, DC Comics. This feels like the high point of Waid’s lengthy Flash run, when Max Mercury and Impulse were in the thick of the storylines. Good stuff.

Xerxes: The Fall of the House of Darius and the Rise of Alexander #1, Dark Horse. I have to admit, Frank Miller’s work the last couple of years hasn’t really clicked with me. Maybe this return to the world of 300 will revive the old magic.

Astro City #51, Vertigo. Part 2 of the 3-part monthly-comics finale for Astro City by Busiek, Anderson and Ross. Even though it’s returning in graphic novels, I’m going to be sad to see this series go.
