HOT PICKS! On Sale This Week!

Scott and Dan pick the comics they’re most looking forward to this week …

Scott Tipton, co-owner, Blastoff Comics, North Hollywood, Calif.

Batman and Robin Adventures Vol. 1 TPB, DC Comics. Ty Templeton is one of the most underrated talents in comics. This Batman run of his is first-rate.

Princess Bride: A Storybook To Color TPB, IDW Publishing. I’ve not been much for the whole adult coloring book trend, but this one? As you wish.

Marvel Masterworks Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 18 HC, Marvel. More of the prime Spidey comics of my childhood, illustrated by the great Ross Andru.

Dan Greenfield, editor, 13th Dimension

DC Rebirth Holiday Special #1, DC Comics. I really dig holiday specials. The stories can be hit or miss but there’s nothing like the warmth of curling up with a good holiday-themed comic this time of year. This one’s got 11 stories in 85 pages — and Detective Chimp. (Click here for a SNEAK PEEK!)

Red Sonja #0, Dynamite. The She-Devil With a Sword wakes up … in New York! For 25 cents! By Amy Chu and Carlos Gomez.

Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows #2, Marvel. I really enjoyed the first issue a lot, and it just may be because it was written by my fave Spidey scribe, Gerry Conway. More than anything, a story like this has to have its voice right and this one does. Art by Ryan Stegman.

Hawkeye #1, Marvel. Kate Bishop takes center stage, by Kelly Thompson and Leonardo Romero. I’m down. (Hello, Netflix? I have an idea for you…) PLUS: LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that giallo-inspired cover by Julian Totino Tedesco. (Click here for the why.)

Star Wars: Poe Dameron #9, Marvel. This is for Christy Blanch. (I’m not sure which of us thinks Oscar Isaac is hotter.) And, cuz, y’know, there’s a Star Wars movie out this week… By Charles Soule and Phil Noto.

Lost In Space: The Lost Adventures #6, American Gothic Press. I’ve really enjoyed these comics adaptations of Carey Wilber’s unfilmed scripts. Now, my understanding is this the end, but I hope editor/writer Holly Interlandi keeps the Lost In Space comics going.

Die Kitty Die, Chapter House. My lord is this comic hysterical. Dan Parent and Fernando Ruiz really aren’t holding back. And I’m with ’em.
