HOT PICKS! On Sale This Week!

Scott and Dan pick the comics they’re most looking forward to this week …

Scott Tipton, co-owner, Blastoff Comics, North Hollywood, Calif.

Flash: Rebirth #1, DC Comics. I’m hoping we get some follow-up on the return of Wally West in these pages…

Supergirl: The Silver Age Omnibus, DC Comics. As if Silver Age Supergirl stories weren’t good enough, I can’t resist this Darwyn Cooke cover image…

Wonder Woman: Rebirth #1, DC Comics. The return of Greg Rucka to Wonder Woman is a very good sign.

Incredible Hulk Epic Collection: Man or Monster?, Marvel. I’ve fallen under the spell of these Epic Collections lately – the color and print reproduction is really well done, and it’s great to get a huge chunk of Silver or Bronze Age Marvel stories at a comparatively low price.

A DC-heavy selection, I admit:

Aquaman: Rebirth #1, DC. See, I’m a total Aquaphile now, after years of denigrating the Swift and Powerful Monarch of the Ocean. Dan Abnett is keeping the trident after wrapping the New 52 run, so I’m still all Atlantis, all the way. And I’ve dug what I’ve seen of Oscar Jimenez’s art.

The Flash: Rebirth #1, DC. I gave up on The Flash awhile ago but will definitely give it a fresh chance. Joshua Williamson is taking over as writer, with art here by Carmine Di Giandomenico.

Action Comics #957. So, 43 months until #1,000, huh? Let’s see what Dan Jurgens and Patrick Zircher have in store for us to get us there.

Wonder Woman: Rebirth #1, DC. Dirty little secret: I’ve never been a huge Wonder Woman fan. I’m just not sure why. But with Greg Rucka back at the helm, I’ll certainly give Diana another chance. Art in this issue is by Paulo Siqueira.

Actionverse TP, Action Lab. The company’s first-ever companywide crossover is collected in one place, featuring the work of creators like Jamal Igle, Vito Delsante, Sean Izaakse, Ray-Anthony Height and many others. Dig Stray and Molly Danger? Dig this.

As usual, my Batman picks will come in the BATBOOK OF THE WEEK column — part of BATMAN’S HOT-LINE. You can also find my regular Star Trek picks in the TREK TUESDAYS column.
