As if we really needed any more proof, but hey…
My respect and admiration for Neal Adams is well established so I don’t need much of a wind-up here.
Basically, as often happens, I was moseying along the web when I came upon this fabulous piece by comics’ greatest artist:
Neal’s daughter Kris Adams Stone posted it on Facebook — she posts his art regularly for auctions and the like — and it brought my mental Batmobile to a tire-screeching halt.
Just go back and look at it. Now look at it again.
It matters not to me what we’ve seen on screen or under the pencils of other superb artists: This is Batman. Quintessentially. Yellow oval or big black bat — either way, this is the Platonic ideal.
I’m just glad I get to stare at it to my heart’s content.

I wonder what the date was for this picture? Was it recent? It reminds me of his classic work and less of his recent series for DC.
