Batmaven Jim Beard, historian Rich Handley and the fine folks at Crazy 8 Press are gearing up for the release of the second volume in their series of books analyzing the 1966 Batman TV show — and how groovy is that?

BIFF! BAM! EEE-YOW! The Subterranean Blue Grotto Guide to Batman ’66 — Season Two is due for a March release and, like Season One’s ZLONK! ZOK! ZOWIE!, features essays on every episode by a coterie of top Bat-experts (your humble host included).

Design by Sean E. Ali

In addition to the essays, the book features sketches by a Batcave full of artists paying tribute to Season Two’s highlights.

Check out these examples:

Scott McCullar

Ken Holtzhouser

Keith Howell

A few thoughts:

— I haven’t asked Jim, but I’d wager that Season Three guide’s will be purple with Yvonne Craig’s Batgirl in the corner.

UPDATED: The book is now available at Amazon. The paperback is $15.99 and the eBook is $5.99. Click here to order. And if you want to order Season One, click here.

— I’m deeply flattered to be a part of this project, with so many fine writers attached. I wrote about The Thirteenth Hat in the first edition. It was a real gas to do and it was even more fun to write about the Catwoman episode guest-starring Lesley Gore this time around.

— * That question mark is officially part of Stacey Smith?’s name.

  2. Your link to the 2nd season book doesn’t work. Does that mean the release has been postponed indefinitely or, is it currently available?
