Remastered and recolored for your enjoyment…

DC Comics this week is releasing what is probably the definitive collection of the 1985 landmark maxiseries Crisis on Infinite Earths, by Marv Wolfman, George Perez and Jerry Ordway — an Absolute Edition featuring remastered and recolored art, and some spectacular extras.
It’s one of the most anticipated books of the year, for sure.
Alex Galer, DC collected editions editor, wrote in TwoMorrows’ Back Issue #159: “In 2026, DC will release a brand-new, remastered Absolute Crisis on Infinite Earths. Working with Crisis on Infinite Earths and Superman artist Jerry Ordway, DC has sourced his entire collection of original artwork from the series, as well as working with fans worldwide to source existing art from Crisis on Infinite Earths. This scanning effort will be used in DC’s full remastering of the series with original colors. … The new Absolute Edition will also feature new essays, and never-before printed material.”

DC has not released any pages from the volume, but there is a groovy video tucked into the book’s Amazon listing that gives you a solid SNEAK PEEK that you’ll want to check out. (I’m not advocating buying it from Amazon, mind you. Best to go through your local comics shop, but I haven’t seen this video anywhere else.)
The new Crisis on Infinite Earths: Absolute Edition lists for $125.

Pre-ordered, to go along with my existing Absolute Edition. Can’t wait!

Hopefully DC will keep this in print a good long while!! So many great reprints coming out this year!!
I’m all saved up for the Bronze Age Batman omnibus, and almost there for the Absolute Neal Adams Book One. Still need to save for Dark Knight Returns deluxe. Fortunately for me the second Silver Age Batman won’t be until December.

Glancing at the Amazon video and comparing the various pages to the same pages in my Deluxe Edition, I’m not a fan of the return to the original coloring.

I have ordered the book. I am curious as to whether this edition will contain the unpublished George Perez pencils for the aborted JLA/Avengers book?

That series was one of the main things that got me back interested in comic books after not really buying many in college and after except for character references for fanzine illustrations. Loved seeing Jerry’s work on the stands and would buy some issues of ALL STAR SQUADRON, too. When he started inking CRISIS that was awesome!
Wish the printing quality had been better at the time. Got a foreign version one of the few times I got to go to DC’s offices (still have it) and the print quality was better. No Flexographic or whatever that was with trying to save money on printing plates by the printer. Art looked sharper.
