Celebrating eight-plus decades of the Fastest Men Alive…
Decade tribute variant covers are The Thing for anniversary and landmark issues these days. We saw them for Action Comics #1000 (click here), Detective Comics #1000 (click here), the dubiously named Marvel Comics #1000 (click here) and, just this week, Wonder Woman #750 (click here).
We’re also going to get them for the 80th Anniversary 100-Page Super Spectaculars saluting Robin (click here), the Joker (click here) and Catwoman (click here).
Well, come March, DC will give us another round for The Flash #750. The publisher already announced it was doing this but it released the unlettered versions this week.

Okay, I admit they got me with the Action 1000, Detective 1000, and Marvel Comics 1000 variant covers. I must have bought 5 or 6 different versions of each of those. Then came Wonder Woman 750, and I forced myself to just pick the best cover of the bunch (the 1940s variant) and skip the rest. Flipped through it, then just put it aside. Some nice pin-ups inside, but I didn’t really feel very motivated to read any of the stories. With Flash I’ll just get the Nick Derrington 1960s variant. It would be nice if at least ONE of these expensive comics books actually had some interior stories worth reading, though.

I like the Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez and Jim Lee cover variants for that upcoming “Flash” issue the most.

Really? No tribute to the 90s Flash? After everything with Crisis on TV, you’d think they would. Missed a beat there.
