DC to Make Landmark GREEN LANTERN #76 Free for Digital Download

A celebration of the groundbreaking O’Neil-Adams issue…

DC Comics will be making Denny O’Neil and Neal Adams’ landmark Green Lantern #76 — co-starring Green Arrow — available for free as a digital download.

The move comes less than a week after O’Neil, one of the most celebrated comics writers of all time, died at the age of 81. And, coincidentally, it comes the same week Adams, one of the form’s greatest artists, turned 79.

The issue will be available as a free download for a week — June 16 through June 23.

Digital platforms include ReadDC.com, comiXology, Amazon Kindle, Barnes and Noble, Google Play, iBooks, and the DC Universe digital streaming platform.

A few thoughts:

— DC recently cancelled the Green Lantern #76 Facsimile Edition due to the industry fallout from the coronavirus pandemic, so making the issue free digitally is a thoughtful gesture. That said, I really hope the Facsimile Editions make a return in full in the months ahead — and that GL #76 leads the list. (The Detective Comics #475 Facsimile Edition is out this week and George Perez’s Wonder Woman #1 Facsimile Edition is scheduled for August, but click here for a list of the axed titles.)

— On Monday — Adams’ 79th birthday — we published THE TOP 13 DENNY O’NEIL-NEAL ADAMS STORIES — RANKED. Click here to check it out — and find out where GL #76 landed. (SPOILER ALERT: Very, very, very high on the list.)

— During our recent GREEN LANTERN WEEK, Adams himself named the issue his favorite GL story. Click here to check out his EXCLUSIVE 13th Dimension column.
