BLADE’s Debut in TOMB OF DRACULA #10 to Be Released as Facsimile Edition

One of the biggest announcements coming out of San Diego Comic-Con is that Blade — starring Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali — is coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Well, Marvel Comics is getting a head start on things by releasing 1973’s Tomb of Dracula #10 — the cult-fave vampire hunter’s debut by Marv Wolfman, Gene Colan and Jack Abel — as a Facsimile Edition reprint this November.

A few quick thoughts:

— The chief selling points of Facsimile Editions — which are full-on reprints including ads, letter columns and whatnot — are the price and the reading experience. Generally speaking, the spotlighted stories have been reprinted many times over, but rarely do you get to see them in their original context unless you happen to own an original. In this particular case, the Facsimile Edition is a mere four bucks when an original right now is fetching hundreds on eBay.

— For example, one recent sale of an ungraded, high-end copy went for $776. Hell, an earlier reprint of Tomb of Dracula #10 just went for about $80 on eBay, so…
