BATCOPTER Provides Piece of History at BATMAN ’66 Exhibit

An EXCLUSIVE glimpse at the kind of thing you’ll see at the Hollywood Museum…

In case you hadn’t noticed, we’re pretty amped for the three-month Batman ’66 exhibit that debuts this week at the Hollywood Museum in Los Angeles.

Dozens of props, curios, pieces of memorablia and rare collectibles will be on display, starting with a VIP gala on Jan. 10. (The exhibit opens to the public on Jan. 12 — the 52nd anniversary of the show’s premiere.)

The exhibit’s being kept under tight wraps but days before the doors open we can give you a look at just the type of piece that will be included: the original tail rotor of the 1966 Batcopter, signed by Adam West, Yvonne Craig, Julie Newmar, Lee Meriwether and many others. (Hopefully, Burt Ward, who will be at the gala, will add his name.)

The piece — which was part of the chopper when it flew in the movie and in subsequent TV episodes — is being lent by the ever enthusiastic Eugene Nock, who also owns the Batcopter itself.

Dig this up-close look:

Naturally, we’d love to see the whole Batcopter on display but space and transport are an issue. Instead, it’ll be great to see a piece of the original on display with all the costumes and Bat-hardware fans will get to see.

The Batcopter then…

… and now.

The Batcopter, by the way, tours the East Coast every spring, summer and fall, appearing at air shows and fairs, often offering rides. I’ve flown in it a couple times now and let me tell you: It never gets old. (Click here for more info.)
