Gentleman Gene was born 94 years ago…
The late, great Gene Colan — one of the most popular artists of the Silver and Bronze Ages — was well known for a number of titles, but perhaps most notably Daredevil (though The Tomb of Dracula is right in there).
Colan — born Sept. 1, 1926 — was particularly adept at capturing moody atmosphere but he also conveyed a sense of movement and dynamism that is often underappreciated.

Gene “the Dean” is one of my all time faves. His pencils are what attracted me to Daredevil back when I discovered Marvel books in 1967. Don’t forget that, along with DD and Drac, he also drew the best Iron Man.
