13 COVERS: TIM SALE and the World of MARVEL

The beloved illustrator has died at 66…

The word came down Thursday that Tim Sale, one of the most respected artists of the last three decades or so, has died at the age of 66. You can click here for more details.

At Marvel, Sale was best known for his “color series” with Jeph Loeb: Spider-Man: Blue, Daredevil: Yellow, Hulk: Gray and Captain America: White.

But there was more than that so we’ve compiled a 13 COVERS gallery featuring a number of different Marvel projects. (Plus, you can click here for 13 COVERS selected from his work at DC.)

This is a fraction of Sale’s body of work, so if you have a favorite that’s not here, feel free to add it in the comments.

  2. Three huge losses to the comic book artist community in the last month or so. I’m a huge fan of Tim Sale’s work with Loeb. I bought their books at times when I wasn’t even collecting. Requiescat in pace, Tim Sale.
