A fantasy for all time…
Some of the most illustrious names in comics were inducted into the Eisner Hall of Fame at San Diego Comic-Con last weekend, so we’re celebrating the work of an artful quintet of 13th Dimension faves — Bill Sienkiewicz, Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez, Jim Aparo, Dave Stevens and Wendy Pini, who was chosen with her writing partner Richard Pini. Over five days, we’re bringing you five 13 COVERS galleries — and now it’s the Pinis’ turn.
ElfQuest is one of those titles that engenders almost cult-like devotion. The Pinis were at the vanguard of what would become the modern independent comics movement, self-publishing through their WaRP Graphics, and interest in ElfQuest endures to this day. Wendy Pini herself inspired a generation of women to become cartoonists and her decades-long relationship with fans at conventions has made her a comics-culture idol.

Very nice! Here’s a poser for anyone who care to take it on: What 13 covers, from Fantasy Quarterly all the way up to the most recent issue of Final Quest, would work best to show how Wendy’s drawing style for the elves has both evolved yet stayed true to the underlying spirit/structure of the characters? Mmm?
