13 COVERS: A MARIE SEVERIN Birthday Celebration

The late comics pioneer was born 90 years ago…

Here’s something to think about:

The late Marie Severin — who was born Aug. 21, 1929, and died in 2018 — was one of the only women working in mainstream comics in the Silver and Bronze ages. Even in her heyday she developed something of a cult following.

But there is no doubt in my mind that if she were in her prime today, she’d be a big-time comics star. Not only was she a first-rate colorist, she was a superb penciller.
