13 COVERS: A JIM APARO Birthday Celebration

The late Eisner Hall of Famer was born 87 years ago…

When I think of the late, great Jim Aparo — born Aug. 24, 1932 — I immediately think of The Brave and the Bold. Same holds true for most fans, I’d wager.

So for the most part, our 13 COVERS birthday salutes over the years have been culled from that funky Batman team-up title. Hell, when he was inducted into the Eisner Hall of Fame last month, we ran a fresh B&B gallery, which you can check out here. (Do it. It’s good for you!)

Of course, he also did a ton of straight-up Batman covers, including one that I actually think is his greatest ever — Limited Collectors’ Edition #C-37. (Click here to gawk at that beauty. It’s also good for you!)

Aparo was more than Batman, naturally. Aquaman fans, for example, tend to put him at the top of their list, along with Nick Cardy. I know I do.

So dig these 13 COVERS starring the Swift and Powerful Monarch of the Ocean — and check out the links below for past Aparo salutes.

Groovy.

Aw, hell. I just couldn’t resist. I love this cover.
