13 COVERS: A JERRY ROBINSON Birthday Celebration

One of Batman’s most important creators was born 96 years ago.

Artist Jerry Robinson’s time on the Caped Crusader was relatively brief compared to other artists, but his contributions were remarkably substantial: He helped create Robin and the Joker.

Let that sink in.

Robinson was born Jan. 1, 1922, and died in 2011 after a lengthy career as a cartoonist and artists’ advocate.

Here’s a 13 COVERS salute:

Kirby and Simon did the Boy Commandos. Robinson did Batman and Robin.
