Last night, the city of Los Angeles celebrated Adam West in grand fashion by lighting the Batsignal at City Hall, with Burt Ward and Lee Meriwether in attendance.

As a New Yorker, I selfishly wish it’d happened here — this is the real-life Gotham, of course. But, man, L.A. did a great job. And I love some of the details: Note the presence of a Batphone.

Even better? The Batsignal was the actual Adam West logo, not a generic Batsignal.

Check out the pix below, courtesy of DC Comics, which helped put this together with the city. (Captions provided by DC, too.)

Dig it, Batfans:

  1. That is so cool. Can’t tell you how happy that makes me. I heard mayor Garcetti on NPR recently. Seems like a great, intelligent, well cultured guy. He even played some jazz piano and a song he wrote. And he loves Adam West too.
    Garcetti for president.
