This week, Funko will be formally announcing the release of the Batmobile — complete with Batman and Robin — the first big splash in its new 3.75-inch-scale line of Batman ’66 action figures.

I. Cannot. Wait.

For starters, here’s your FIRST LOOK at the prototype packaging:

Here’s what we know: On Wednesday, Funko is to make the announcement and I expect there’ll be more details, as well. Pre-ordering at specialty shops and other retailers should begin shortly. The price will be in the $40-$50 range.

UPDATED: Here’s Funko’s official announcement. Pre-order info is at the bottom of this post:

Nana nana nana nana…it’s none other than Batman and Robin!
These figures feature nine points of articulation and are 3.75” tall!
They are sure to stop the deranged villains of Gotham!

This action figure set is complete with Batman’s signature Batmobile!
This 11” ride is Funko’s first ride featuring rolling wheels!

Collect them this Spring!

It’s great news because the word until now was that the figures wouldn’t be hitting until June or July. (No info yet on the release dates for individual first-wave figures, such as Screen Test Batman, Batgirl, Catwoman, the two Mr. Freeze figures, King Tut and Bookworm.)

We’ve been writing a lot about this line since it was unveiled at Toy Fair in February, so make sure you check out our FUNKO BATMAN ’66 INDEX of stories for concept art and EXCLUSIVE behind-the-scenes info. Click here.

In fact, we’ll have a whole rundown on the Batmobile later this week. So keep your eyes peeled, citizens.

PRE-ORDER INFO:

Option 1. Go to your local comics shop or retailer that carries Funko items and ask them how best to preorder.

Option 2. Pick an online retailer. For example, Entertainment Earth has already listed the Batmobile here.

  2. They’re certainly making a big deal about a funky pop exact Batmobile that isn’t screen accurate in any way. I’ll give an A to the packaging, but it’s basically what Diamond Select uses Do the wheels even move? The figures are sure to be mass produced as well as the Batmobile. The figures from Toy Figures Company are more accurate. I’ll give them the screen test Batman, but look at the cowl. It’s not even close.

    • GINO-Yes the wheels move! 4″ figures VS 8″ Mego clothed style figures are two different styles of figure.

I don’t understand your whiny complaints. FTC mass produces their toys too. These figures are a BIG DEAL to many collectors

  3. Figures Toy Company though has seemed to forget about the Batman 1966 line. It’s been almost a year since they released anything new (even variants) they could have already put out their own Eli as Mr. Freeze or Screen Test Batman but they haven’t. It’s time to jump on to something new. Funko’s new line looks fantastic, and I hope we get a Jockey Penguin from them because Figures Toy Company hasn’t given us one yet.

  4. Dan, please do a story about the original Ideal molds that were leased to a Mexican toy company. Molds include the 1966 Batman Utility Belt, JLA Playset, Captain Action, Marx molds. Do they plan to reissue them?

      • How can you insure that you get the chase figures?
There’s no place on the EE store page to indicate that you want to purchase the Eli Mr Freeze.
My guess is the only way we’re going to get access to these figures is by paying out the nose for them on Ebay which totally sucks and leaves a terrible taste in my mouth. Especially since these char figures are the ones we’re being pre-trained to get excited about in the media releases.
